Refuse Collection Worker Jasper County 358 3rd Avenue, Ridgeland, SC 29936

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for assisting in the county’s refuse collection operations.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Opens and supervises assigned convenience sites.
• Reports any problems to supervisor.
• Cleans convenience site; washes and sweeps pad.
• Directs customers with the unloading of solid waste; supervises the placement of refuse.
• Mows grass at site; collects litter.
• Inspects materials to ensure compliance with standards.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

• Knowledge of convenience site politics and procedures.
• Knowledge of county and department policies and procedures.
• Skill in the operation of lawn maintenance equipment.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Skill in dealing with the general public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• No experience requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This work is typically performed outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, and machinery with moving parts. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves.
