ESSENTIAL TASKS

Patrols unincorporated areas of the County to assess the removal and handling of solid waste. Receives, investigates and responds to complaints from citizens regarding waste removal services, including yard waste, garbage, recycling and bulk item collection. Maintains contact with waste collection contractors; resolves and/or initiates the resolution of problems with services provided. Checks home sites to determine occupancy. Picks up and removes yard waste, garbage, recyclable materials as necessary. Performs random inspections to ensure that the activities of contractors are carried out in compliance with contracts and that equipment used by collectors is proper, clean, functional and free of leaks. Picks up, delivers, maintains and repairs roll carts and recycling bins. Observes and reports abuse of carts/bins by contractors; reports non-regulated waste piles as necessary. Enters complaints and any related actions and information into computer data collection and tracking system. Assists with general maintenance work as required, including but not limited to unloading delivered supplies, disposing of old materials / equipment, etc. Inspects vehicles and equipment to ensure proper and safe working condition; reports defects or required maintenance to the supervisor. Assists co-workers with various duties as required Assist with public education. Deliver roll costs and recycling bins as needed. Maintains accurate and complete work records as required Performs all duties in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and standards of quality and safety. Attends training, meetings, etc., as necessary to enhance job knowledge and skills Cross train in other departments as needed.

VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL PREPARATION

Requires high school diploma, GED equivalent or specialized vocational training.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

Must possess a valid state driver’s license

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Requires over one year and up to and including two years.

$17.85 – $28.54
