Wage:
$24.76 hr. Reporting to the Plant Manager/Operations Manager through the Scale Operator/Dispatcher, the main duties of this job involve the safe and efficient delivery or pickup of any material, product, machinery, etc., as assigned.
What you will be doing:
Primary need/responsibility would be hauling van trailers with the ability to do roll-off and flatbed if needed based on our changing customer needs. Operates OTR vehicle, fork truck and other material handling equipment. Manually push, pull, and lift some equipment and materials as needed. In all instances that a mechanical means is possible, it is done in this manner, but some manual exertion is still required. Receives supervision & prepares daily log and trip sheets. Identifies grade of incoming material. Comprehends all rules/regulations regarding safe operation of vehicle. Safely drives and maneuvers a tractor & trailer or assigned vehicle. Can perform all duties in a manner consistent with Sonoco’s best safety practices and report any damage or unsafe conditions immediately. Have taken specialized courses and/or training as determined by plant management. Driver training/CDL A required. Have knowledge of DOT, Company, State and Federal laws regarding the safe operation of vehicles assigned. Have arithmetic/basic math skills. Understands how to deal with repetitiveness and distractions. Very repetitive and varied fatigued work is involved in this role. Is patient, dependable and has a good attitude.
