Tanker Endorsement Full Job Description Key Responsibilities:
Drive and operate [insert truck details: e.g. Class B straight truck with 26′ bed].
Daily safety inspection of equipment:
tractors, trailers, forklifts, etc. Advise supervisor of required equipment repairs. Ability to safely operate the yard tractor to hook to, back in, pull out, and park empty and loaded trailers. Secure units onto trailer using strap and edge protectors. Occasional tarping of loads. Daily yard checks and monitoring of available equipment in the drop lots. Plan the spotting of trailers at the docks for loading and communicates when trailers are ready. Move trailers between various docks and parking lots on and off property. Direct yard traffic as needed. Maintain the organization of the trailer drop lots. Picking and staging of orders. Put together partials for customer orders. Inspect materials for quality defects. Scrap out/segregate defective product and follow proper reporting procedures. Load material on flat bed or box trucks. Inspection to confirm right material is loaded on truck. Complete all paperwork associated with order. Perform random and end-of-month inventory counts. Assist in training of new team members. Assist in other areas of the plant as required. Skills/Abilities:
Have a valid commercial motor vehicle operator’s license issued by one state or jurisdiction. A Class A Commercial Driver’s License (operating a CMV with a gross combination weight rating of 26,001 or more pounds and towing a trailer of 10,001 pounds or more). A Class B Commercial Driver’s License (operating a power unit with a GVWR of 26,001 or pounds without a trailer). Is not disqualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle under the rules in 49 CFR 391.15. Ability to speak and read English to converse with the public, understand traffic signs and signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports and records. Drive the vehicle safely. Currently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card. Pass a driver’s road test or equivalent. No more than two (2) moving violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years. No serious traffic violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) year. Speeding 15 mph or more over the speed limit. Reckless driving. Improper or erratic lane change. Following too closely. Driving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) without a CDL or without a CDL in possession. Driving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) without the proper class license and or endorsements. Texting or using a hand-held mobile device while driving a CMV. Violating state or local laws relating to motor vehicle traffic control arising in connection with a fatal accident. No preventable accidents while operating a CMV in the last three (3) years. No preventable DOT recordable accidents (collisions resulting in disabling damage and/or immediate medical treatment away from the scene) while operating a CMV in the last five (5) years. No preventable accident resulting in a fatality or catastrophic injury in driving history (commercial motor vehicle). No positive or refused drug or alcohol test in the previous five (5) years and must have fully completed a DOT recognized Substance Abuse Program, as well as return to duty testing and all prescribed follow-up testing for said violation. Ability to operate a forklift.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Class A – minimum of 12 months verifiable experience working in a full-time tractor/trailer driving position in the previous three (3) years or two (2) years of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last five (5) years. Class B – minimum of 12 months verifiable experience working in a full-time Class B tractor driving position in the previous three (3) years or two (2) years of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last five (5) years. A mixture of Class A and Class B experience may be considered. [If required Hazmat, Tanker, and Doubles endorsements required (LVC requirement may apply).] Must be at least 23 years of age.
