Job Summary:
- Employees in this class are under general supervision.
Work performed involves maintenance tasks of an unskilled or semi-skilled nature.
Examples of work performed: (individuals may perform some or all of the following): drives dump truck, drives and operates brush trucks, drives leaf vac trucks, drives and operates street sweeper, cuts grass with tractor and rotary mower; removes debris from street right-of-ways and other city property; loads and unloads gravel, trash, garbage and other debris; works as part of a maintenance crew in road repair, concrete maintenance, or ROW maintenance; spray herbicides; trims foliage; mixes, applies, and spreads asphalt patch; pours and finishes concrete; operates backhoe, chain saw, line trimmer, leaf vacuum machine, and concrete saw; cleans and maintains equipment and tools; may be called upon to drive other department vehicles occasionally as needed. performs related duties as required. flags traffic at work sites. Performs related work as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Abilities:

Qualifications:
- Some experience in operating trucks or other heavy equipment is required. Must possess a commercial driver ‘s license. Experience operating a dump truck is preferred.

Essential Functions:
- The essential functions of this position include the ability to enter/drive a large truck and manipulate the various levers, knobs, and switches to operate it properly; and occasionally lifting/moving items weighing up to 50lbs.
Employees in this class are occasionally exposed to vehicle/equipment cleaning solvents and obnoxious odors, requires occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) or work near moving mechanical parts. Work involves frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, and occasional exposure to extreme hot or cold (non- weather). Work environment is frequently loud (earth moving equipment) or very loud (jackhammer). These functions are often performed in inclement weather.
