Emergency Situation:
Employees in this classification will be required to report and carry out duties as directed for the duration of an emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Makes necessary programming adjustments and repairs to the equipment. Reads and records consumption of residential and non-residential water meters. Verifies that readings are within parameters. Performs shut offs and meters locks for delinquent accounts. Performs a wide array of tasks related to meter equipment including installation, repair, or replacement. Troubleshoots problems related to water meters and reading equipment. Provides technical support to the AMI program and operates all software and equipment. Analyze AMI data, negative/non reporting items, communication failures and recurring errors. Perform varies task on computer, mobile tablets, and AMI handheld devices. Responds to emergency requests and assists the operations crews with system repairs. Maintains records of work performed and materials used. Organize warranty inventory and prepare shipments for return Ability to communicate, assist and train onboarding Meter Technician III new hires Track, maintain & log current inventory as related to Metering and AMI. Assist in completing underground utility locates issued through the 811 locate ticket system as needed. Assist in sampling for Safe Drinking Water Act and South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Water use permit compliance. Position will require the employee to be placed into the department’s rotating on-call schedule once they are sufficiently trained as determined by the Utilities Manager/Director.
