out of 5 stars Gwinnett County, GA Class Summary Job Description This class is responsible for performing journeyman trades duties. The position will be required to perform work on highly specialized equipment associated with traffic signals, and depending on grade level, will act as a lead worker, directing personnel in the proper repair / replacement of equipment. This employee must be able to trouble-shoot equipment to determine the cause of any problems and make accurate and timely decisions with respect to repairs and/or replacements. Essential Duties General maintenance of traffic signals Installation of traffic signal equipment Locating traffic signal and fiber optic cables Assisting with inspection of traffic signals Fabricating and installing traffic signal heads, overhead street name signs, etc Assisting with traffic signal preventive aerial maintenance Performs other duties of similar nature or level Public Speaking Duties Ability to communicate effectively and engage with staff, citizens, leadership, and elected officials as needed. Other Job Requirements/Information This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing. Minimum Qualifications Trades Technician I (A123) – $36,633 – $46,706 High School diploma or GED An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered. Valid Driver’s License Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment. Once CDL obtained, this position will require DOT drug testing and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Gwinnett County Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace. Trades Technician II (B213) – $43,238 – $56,209 High School diploma or GED Two years of trades experience An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered. Valid Driver’s License Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment. Once CDL obtained, this position will require DOT drug testing and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Gwinnett County Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace.
