Role:

Are you a skilled electrical technician with a passion for public safety and infrastructure? We’re looking for a dedicated Traffic Signal and Streetlight Technician to join our team. In this vital role, you’ll perform a variety of technical tasks involving the repair, installation, and maintenance of traffic signals, streetlights, and related systems that help keep our roadways safe and efficient.

Key Responsibilities:

Repair, install, modify, and maintain traffic signals and streetlights, including signal heads, controllers, circuitry, switches, fuses, timers, and cabinet components.
Investigate public reports and malfunctions related to signals, streetlights, and emergency sirens.
Reconstruct and refurbish electrical equipment in the shop; ensure all work meets electrical codes and safety standards.
Use computer software to monitor and adjust signal timing; ensure systems return to standard timing after repairs.
Interpret and follow engineering drawings, schematics, and MUTCD standards when installing or upgrading equipment.
Ensure electrical compatibility and perform safety testing of all components.
Locate and mark underground utilities before beginning work.
Inspect contractor installations for code compliance and functionality.
Maintain accurate digital and manual records, prepare work orders and estimates, and manage inventory supplies.
Set up and remove temporary traffic control signage and delineators.
Maintain tools, equipment, service vehicles, and shop spaces safely and efficiently.
Respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed.

Qualifications:

Must have a valid CDL
Proven experience with electrical systems related to traffic signals or streetlighting (3+ years preferred).
Strong knowledge of traffic signal operations and MUTCD compliance.
Ability to read and interpret complex electrical plans, and schematics.
Familiarity with underground utility marking and safety procedures.
Proficient in using specialized software for signal timing and diagnostics.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Certification in traffic signal systems (e.g., IMSA Level I/II) is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements:

This role involves moderate physical activity, including walking, standing, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and using hands and senses regularly.
