This is an on-site 1st shift position working Tuesday through Friday from 5:00 am to 2:30 pm . The pay rate for this position is $25.50 per hour.

Traffic Management Center Tech Job Description:

A senior level position working indoors and on-site in a control room environment to monitor roadways and to ensure safe and efficient movement of traffic. The technician will be tasked with detecting, confirming, updating, and responding to scheduled and unscheduled traffic incidents, congestion, and travel time imbalances. and dispatching responders accordingly by utilizing Intelligent Transportation Systems devices. The initial contract will be for 60 days but is subject to extension upon good performance. Traffic Management Center Tech Duties and Responsibilities will include: Senior level operator position performing functions with minimal supervision and to established procedures. Performing all duties and may defer the most complex issues to a supervisor or manager. May serve as a “shift team leader” to facilitate the smooth and balanced operation of the control room. May train new operators and provide guidance to more junior operators. Operating various computer-based traffic management systems to manage traffic and incidents on roadways and improve traffic conditions. Monitoring roadways and detection systems. Monitoring all traffic devices and computer equipment associated with the system. Maintaining advanced knowledge on the operation of all traffic equipment, computers and software associated with the traffic systems. Utilizing traffic equipment for incident management and the improvement of travel time, safety, and quality of life of the traveling motorists and toll customers. Continually check the accuracy and validity of the messages displayed on all DMS and 511. Being aware of all 511 messages broadcast on a particular system. Entering incident information into computer systems using traffic software. Becoming familiar with the roadways and understanding the purpose and location of each traffic device (i.e. detector stations, CCTV, and 511). Alerting operator staff to new and existing memos. Utilizing SOG to detect, dispatch, monitor, and document roadway incidents. Conferring with partners (highway patrol, Service Patrols, Local Law Enforcement, Fire Rescue, etc.) as well as adjacent Traffic Management Centers or other DOT Regions to coordinate resources for incidents which may affect regional travel. Dispatching Service Patrols and assisting Service Patrols with other tasks, such as phone calls, etc. Performing other duties as assigned. Minimum Skills and Qualifications Needed for Traffic Management Center Tech position: Proficient in Operating Computers, specifically in Utilizing Microsoft Office, Access & Outlook. Customer Service Experience Highly Preferred Proficient in Internet Navigation & Research Proficiency in Emailing & Technical Skills Experience Contributing Within a Team Environment Dispatch or Call Center Experience Highly Preferred Excellent Communication Skills- oral, in writing, reports & clear communication over radio.
