- Position Summary
- This position requires operating rail track switches, coupling anduncoupling rail cards and locomotives and other duties as assigned.
- Requirements
- Inspect railcar couplings
- Inspect, set, release hand brakes when needed
- Connect and disconnect railcar air hoses
- Inspect rail prior to daily start up
- Communicate with locomotive engineer and scale house about daily duties or shipment break out
- Be a shove protector for locomotive.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High School Education or Equivalent
- Commitment to Safe Work Practices
- Fast learner & Motivated
- Stable work history
- Ability to read operating instructions
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work flexible shifts and overtime
- Ability to work outdoors
- Willing to perform other tasks within rail operations
- Previous rail experience, including locomotive operations, a plus
