Job Summary:

Oversees and participates in the repair and re-building of railroad rolling stock in accordance to Federal and Company regulations and specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Skills including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, metal fabrication, and reconstruction of railcars. Complete and monitor schedules to ensure all shifts are staffed adequately while managing labor. Conduct formal and informal staff evaluations as requested while providing performance feedback on a consistent/continual basis. Develop training materials and administer or oversee training of new personnel and retraining of returning personnel. Building and repairing train car rolling stock, including window, walls, HVAC, water and waste systems. Maintain generator cars in good working order. Change oils and fluids on a regular basis. Masking and painting of interior train car rolling stock. Schedule and perform daily and periodic equipment and train car rolling stock inspections. Maintain, repair and install HVAC air conditioning and heat systems. Compliance with GSMR procedures, safety and operating rules. Work with other departments as part of a team to provide passengers/guest with positive memories. Follow purchasing process including getting quotes, entering into purchasing order software, and following up with ordering and invoicing. Other duties as requested.

Work Environment:

Work on and off the train in varied terrain in all weather during both daylight and dark hours. Primary work is in a fabrication shop setting. Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on the changing priorities of the department including day, evening and weekend shifts.

Education, Skill and Work Experience Requirements:

Ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English. Ability to be on your feet for up to 12 hours. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to ascend/descend train steps/ladders and crawl on, under and around train car rolling stock.

Good balance and equilibrium:

walking on moving trains; graveled and uneven and/or sloped surfaces that may be wet/slippery while carrying tools. Must possess organizational skills with ability to multi-task while prioritizing workload with practical, flexible and innovative approach to work. Ability to communicate successfully with a variety of personalities and function effectively as a member of a team. Pre-Employment & Random Drug Testing program in compliance with company policy. Possess a valid Driver License. Must be able to successfully complete and achieve a passing score on a WorkSTEPS physical test and respiratory FIT test.
