DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker International is seeking to hire a full-time Bridge EIT to join the New England Bridge Team in our Boston, MA office. In this role, you’ll work under the guidance of Engineers, Technical Managers, and Project Managers to tackle complex bridge projects and develop innovative and practical solutions for MassDOT, MBTA, and other New England transportation clients. This role offers the opportunity to perform analysis and inspection of bridges, as well as other structural engineering tasks for bridge systems with a mix of on-site field work and a flexible office/ work from home schedule. Responsibilities include:
Assists with the structural analysis and of bridges and other structures. Assists bridge and tunnel inspection teams during field inspections to determine the structural condition of bridges and other structures. Assist in compiling technical inspection and bridge rating reports. Assists with the preparation of CAD drawings needed for bridge and highway projects. Coordinate with analysis and inspection teams to ensure timely and accurate deliverables. Build and maintain strong connections with employees, clients, and other collaborators to achieve remarkable results. Assists with other design and analysis tasks, reports, and other supporting documentation associated with various bridge projects, and other duties as assigned.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited university required; Master’s Degree is a plus. 0-2+ years of relevant experience required. EIT certification required. Familiarity with or ability to learn various software packages such as AutoCAD, Microstation, MathCAD, Microsoft Office, AASHTOWare BrR/BrD, MIDAS, and LARSA. Microsoft Excel skills are desirable. Excel Visual Basic and knowledge of macro programming is a plus. Certification in the 2-week
FHWA/NHI
bridge inspection class preferred. Prior experience with bridge load ratings and as an inspection Team Member preferred.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to efficiently work independently within a multi-disciplinary team and prioritize project assignments to meet deadlines. Must demonstrate a personal commitment to quality, accuracy, safety, and efficiency. Excellent verbal and written English language skills are essential to the long-term success in this role. Able to work in challenging environments, including working from heights, in enclosed environments, and working around traffic. Safety conscious and will be responsible for their personal safety and the safety of fellow team members. Ability to use hand tools, ladders, tape-measures, and other equipment necessary for the proper evaluation of bridges. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $71,846 to $85,000 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
