What We’re Looking For:

Barge Design Solutions is seeking a Bridge Inspector II to join our dynamic Transportation team. In this role, you will work alongside experienced Bridge Inspectors and Team Leaders in developing inspection plans and executing hands-on visual inspections and evaluations of bridges in accordance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) as mandated by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). You will also be responsible for producing detailed bridge inspection reports utilizing Asset Management web-based software, contributing to the safety, reliability, and longevity of our transportation infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

Be able to travel up to 25% Statewide in TN and potentially into bordering States.
Must be punctual, prepared and dependable.
Prepare inspection equipment and documentation for inspections.
Assist in performing NBIS inspections and the evaluations for bridge types including but not limited to steel / concrete culverts; reinforced / prestressed concrete beam bridges; steel girders/box beams/trusses; and timber.
Be Safety conscience and always adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
Be able to work with colleagues in a team setting.
Be able to carry equipment up to 30 lbs., including ladders and small boats.
Maintain in good condition the inspection tools and equipment.
Be able to work effectively in challenging conditions such as: heights, hot & cold temperatures, in boats & waterways, thick vegetation and confined spaces.
Assist in documenting bridge component conditions and collecting data through detailed notes, measurements, sketches and photographs using e-devices.
Reporting data in Asset Management web-based software.
Produce draft inspection reports using InspectX and other Agency specific software.
Support Emergency Response Inspections when required.
Complete required trainings and certifications within required timeframes.
Demonstrate continuous learning & professional development.
Is well organized and possesses excellent attention to detail and assist with creating Project Safety Plans and Inspection Schedules.
Assist with inspection and report schedule tracking.

Education & Experience Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited 4-year college/university.
2-4 years of relevant field and office experience.
Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and proficiency with MS Office.
Experience in the Load Rating of Bridges.
Showing interest and/or having Experience working with Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), (Drones).
Have taken and passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
Certification in the National Highway Institute (NHI) Course # 130055 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges).
Certification in the National Highway Institute (NHI) Course # 130078 (Bridge Inspection Techniques for NSTM).
Experience with TDOT’s InspectX web-based software and MicroStation.
Valid US Driver’s License with clean driving record.
