Description
The Flight Follower Lead supports the Nurse Manager in overseeing the Aeromed Communications Center’s overall operation.
This role involves independent supervision of daily operations, including quality assurance, scheduling, and team member mentoring. Performs Flight Follower responsibilities as needed. Key duties include collaborating with internal TGH staff, pre-hospital fire and EMS services, law enforcement, and hospital personnel and physicians across Florida to ensure efficient and swift acute care transportation. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Emergency Medical Technician Federal Aviation Administration Dispatch Certification
National Association of Air Medical Communication Specialists Certification
Four (4) years of flight operations or dispatch experience, including pre-hospital or ED experience
Advanced proficiency utilizing systems/equipment in the department to include but not limited to radios, flight computer aided dispatch software, mapping software, and Aviation Vender Operational Control Center Software. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to multi-task and provide data entry
General knowledge of medical terminology
Highest level of troubleshooting skills related to flight tracking and related software
Acts as resource for operational insight and knowledge for specialty, scene, and interfacility flights and navigating Post-Accident Plan (PAIP) to completion.
Maintains quality assurance pathway to drive continuous success Provide ongoing mentoring and support to Flight Followers to ensure professional growth and development Dispatch all Aeormed aircrafts using specific flight software and CAD system Receiving incoming requests for Aeromed air medical services for both scene and interfacility flights Ensures documentation is complete containing accurate information and is in compliance with department protocols Coordinate additional transportation needs of flight crew by ground unit Aides in the flight following of other agency aircrafts when requested; maintain accurate log of flight requests Notification to the Emergency Department of incoming EMS and Air traffic Oversees annual Medtro Aviation and AMRM training process.
