ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 The Controller’s duties will include exercising operational Command and Control over all aircraft and airspace under their control during test mission operations. This position will include interface with Test Wing Engineers to develop an efficient method of testing to accomplish all mission objectives. Support will be given to all types of test missions, requiring varying degrees of aircraft control and airspace management, in compliance of ICAO, FAA, NOTAM and USAF regulations. Routinely participates in mission planning, conferences, and attends mission pre/post briefings. Performs unsupervised with a high degree of proficiency in a stressful environment. Directly supports testing and evaluation for high priority DoD air-delivered weapons, navigation, and guidance systems. Test Controller for missions in the

water ranges and all of Eglin land ranges. Coordinate with ATC for the separation of regular and priority air traffic in and around the test complex. Coordinate with external agencies for activation of ranges and safety hazards within the testing complex.

GENERAL DUTIES

 This incumbent actively controls manned and unmanned aircraft in all over-water and land airspace assigned in support of DoD air to air and air to ground test missions. Aircraft control is safely provided IAW established regulations and policies to prevent collision and support mission test objectives. The Aircraft Controller answers radio calls, directs heading / altitude changes and weapons release as required to all aircraft that are assigned. The Controller also monitors and relays weather information, coordinates / deconflicts airspace and nonparticipant aircraft. Additionally, the Controller coordinates with Eglin Air Traffic Control and other military radar units using voice page hot lines, telephones, and radios. Finally, the Aircraft Controller transfers control of departing flights, accepts control of arriving flights and relays aircrew in-flight emergency information to Air Traffic Control. Aircraft Control and all test operations are conducted at the Central Control Facility, Eglin Air Force Base. Mission Execution is performed using a one-of-a-kind RADAR display. The Aircraft Controller is required to perform switch actions. Monitor and react to multiple displays to successfully and safely control all assigned aircraft.

OTHER DUTIES

 This individual may be required to perform general housekeeping duties to assigned work areas.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 Applicant should have an Associate Degree (preferred) and also be a graduate of a DoD military service controller school, with a minimum of six years’ experience and current or prior qualifications as one of the following: Weapons Director (WD) or Air Battle Manager (ABM). Applicant must be knowledgeable of air mass geometry, aircraft performance characteristics, FAA, and USAF procedures governing flight safety and range operations; fighter aircraft and missile ordnance to include capabilities and limitations; remote piloted vehicles utilized as drone targets for live missile fire, their capabilities, limitations, and survivability requirements. Applicant will be required to perform aircraft control operations such as intercepts, air refueling, air-to-ground events and airspace management and must be capable of performing at a high rate of efficiency in an often-stressful environment; possess the skills and the ability to monitor aircraft positioning, altitude, airspeed, while interpreting radar displays; have a high degree of knowledge of tactical operations and aircraft systems; knowledge and skills of various types of air deliverable ordnance use and deployment; ability to coordinate in-flight delivery procedures and flight data as required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

 Candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives; observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.

 Work activities will normally be performed in a well-lit, environmentally controlled atmosphere.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Will be subject to substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures on both paper and computer monitors; requires very little lifting or moving of heavy objects or materials.
