Job Role:

The North America Commercial Controller manages the commercial budget for Canada, French Polynesia, Mexico, and the USA, and assists the VP Finance on North America (NAM) controlling topics and transversal projects for Air France (AF) and KLM (KL). In the framework of accounting and budget standards, the job holder plans, organizes, and manages the budget process, controls, and analyzes actual expenses, headcount, and activity, assists in the management of sensitive issues and proposes solutions and advice, and plays a support-role in the BlueSkies Joint Venture (JV between AF-KL, Delta Airlines and Virgin Atlantic) contractual processes.

Organizational Context:

The North America (NAM) establishment is based in New York City. The 2 main duties of the establishment are to manage the AF-KL operations (passengers and aircraft departing and arriving in NAM stations), and the AF-KL commercial activities (branding, marketing, sales on direct and indirect channels). This role reports to the VP Finance NAM who oversees the following teams across 4 locations (Mexico City, Montreal, NYC, Papeete): accounts receivable, accounts payable, controlling, procurement and treasury. The NAM Commercial Controller oversees ticket related costs and organizational costs for the following teams (Commercial, Finance, General Management, Human Resources), in collaboration with NAM and Canada, French Polynesia, Mexico and US management teams. The NAM Finance team reports functionally to the Finance team at the AF-KL Headquarters (Amsterdam and Paris).

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manages the AF KL commercial budget for

North America Scope:

Ticket related costs and marketing for Canada, French Polynesia, Mexico and the USA Core activities: Approves invoices in the Accounts Payable software, Produces monthly accruals for missing invoices. Evaluates accuracy of accruals and explains significant variances with reforecast, Performs the monthly reforecast. Consolidates the NAM Marketing budget in a dedicated dashboard with NAM commercial teams and the HQ controlling teams. Creates relationship with Delta airlines, acts as interface with Delta regarding back-end incentives calculations Sets up deadlines, defines budget guidelines, organizes, and animates budget review meetings. Monitors managers in the realization of the budget, controls and analyses actual expenses and headcount. 2. Manages the AF KL organization costs for North America Sales & Support teams

Scope:

French Polynesia, Mexico, and the USA Core activities: Approves invoices in the Accounts Payable software, Produces monthly accruals for missing invoices, Performs the monthly reforecast. Explains variances between new forecast and previous references (previous forecast, budget, previous year), Implements a specific follow-up with managers on discretionary fees (HR fees, Legal fees, Travel expenses…) Monitor and analyze salary costs (salary policy, social charges) with HR and managers Monitor and analyze other organization costs (Rent, Maintenance…) Sets up deadlines, defines budget guidelines, organizes, and animates budget review meetings. Monitors managers in the realization of the budget, controls and analyses actual expenses and headcount. 3. Supports VP Finance in NAM activities Core activities: Assists the VP Finance in transversal project (Commercial or Stations), Conducts specific financial studies (reorganization…) needed for strategic guidance, Analyses and provides recommendations used to make hiring decisions, Defines and improves methodology and methods, Enforces compliance with AF/KL financial procedures, plays an active role in enforcing respect of accounting rules regarding internal controls, Designs and updates new JV financial procedures, Monitor, evaluate and report on the Transformation projects & all cost reduction measures Coordinates and updates the Risk Sheet and the Self-Assessment Questionnaires, Coordinates, creates and follows up investment requests.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field preferred At least five years of related experience, Fluency in Microsoft Office suite, Experience in Data reporting tools, Proficient in using financial systems and software, including ERP systems. Knowledge of SAP tools a plus.
