Competitive Youth Soccer Assistant Coach About Houston Wolves Soccer Club Houston Wolves Soccer Club is a player-focused youth soccer organization committed to developing confident, technically capable, and well-rounded young people. We believe player development extends beyond results on the field. Our coaches are expected to create a positive, challenging, and supportive environment built around hard work, dedication, perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Position Overview Houston Wolves Soccer Club is seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and development-focused coaches to serve as Assistant Coaches within our competitive youth soccer program. Each Assistant Coach position includes responsibility for supporting two separate youth teams . The successful candidate will work closely with the assigned Head Coaches and club directors to help deliver training sessions, support players during games, contribute to individual player development, and maintain a positive and professional team environment. This is a part-time, in-person coaching position requiring consistent availability during weekday evenings and on weekends throughout the soccer season. Training Locations Training sessions may take place at either of the following Houston Wolves Soccer Club locations: Britannia Soccer Park - 3606 FM723 Rd, Rosenberg, TX 77471 Westlake Campus - 23300 Bellaire Blvd, Richmond, TX 77406 Assistant Coaches may be assigned teams that train at one or both locations. Key Responsibilities Coaching and Player Development Assist the Head Coach in delivering organized, age-appropriate, and ability-appropriate training sessions. Support the Houston Wolves Soccer Club curriculum, coaching methodology, and player-development philosophy. Help create an engaging, challenging, positive, and enjoyable learning environment. Lead individual activities, small-group practices, or sections of training sessions when directed by the Head Coach. Provide players with clear, constructive, and development-focused coaching and encouragement. Observe players during training and games and provide relevant feedback to the Head Coach. Support player evaluations, development reviews, and individual player-development plans. Help develop players technically, tactically, physically, socially, and psychologically. Promote confidence, teamwork, discipline, decision-making, accountability, and a strong work ethic. Be prepared to lead a training session when requested by the Head Coach or club director. Team and Game-Day Support Serve as the Assistant Coach for two assigned competitive youth teams. Support the Head Coach in preparing both teams for league games, tournaments, and friendly matches. Assist with game-day setup, player warmups, team organization, and equipment. Support the Head Coach with lineups, formations, substitutions, tactics, and in-game adjustments. Provide constructive encouragement and coaching to players from the sideline. Help ensure players understand their roles and responsibilities. Assist with monitoring player attendance and availability. Support a positive team culture focused on player development, enjoyment, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Represent Houston Wolves Soccer Club professionally at all training sessions, games, tournaments, and club events. Work collaboratively with Head Coaches, club directors, and other members of the coaching staff. Communication and Administration Communicate professionally with players, parents, coaches, and club leadership. Direct significant parent, player, disciplinary, or team-related concerns to the assigned Head Coach or club director. Assist with maintaining accurate player attendance and development records. Support the completion of player evaluations, game reports, and other required club documentation. Review assigned training plans and arrive prepared for each session. Keep the Head Coach informed of player-development observations, attendance concerns, injuries, and other relevant information. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries when communicating with players and families. Attend required staff meetings, coaching education events, and club activities. Club Responsibilities Assist with player evaluations and tryouts when required. Support occasional camps, tournaments, coaching events, and other club activities based on availability. Follow all club policies, coaching standards, safeguarding procedures, and codes of conduct. Maintain reliability, punctuality, and professionalism throughout the season. Contribute positively to the continued growth and development of Houston Wolves Soccer Club. Qualifications Minimum of two years of soccer coaching experience, preferably within youth soccer. Previous experience supporting or coaching competitive youth soccer teams is preferred. US Soccer Grassroots coaching licenses or an equivalent recognized coaching qualification. Higher-level coaching qualifications are preferred. Strong understanding of soccer fundamentals and youth player development. Ability to follow and support an established club curriculum and coaching methodology. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism. Ability to create a positive, structured, and development-focused environment for young players. Ability to accept direction and work collaboratively with Head Coaches and club leadership. Ability to communicate professionally with players, parents, and club staff. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to training sessions, league games, tournaments, and club events. Consistent availability during weekday evenings and on weekends. Commitment to continued professional development. Applicants must be able to complete all required background checks, safeguarding requirements, and league or association registration requirements before beginning the position. Schedule and Weekly Commitment The position includes: Weekday evening training sessions. Weekend league games and friendly matches. Occasional tournaments, tryouts, player evaluations, staff meetings, camps, coaching education events, and other club activities. The exact schedule will depend on the age groups, competition level, and teams assigned. Because each position includes two teams, applicants must have sufficient weekday evening and weekend availability to consistently support both team assignments. Compensation Each Assistant Coach position includes responsibility for supporting two separate youth teams . Compensation is paid at the following rates: $25 per completed training session $25 per completed league, tournament, or friendly game Compensation is calculated separately for each assigned team and is based on the number of completed training sessions and games attended. Canceled or weather-affected training sessions and games are not compensated unless otherwise approved by the club. Routine training preparation, communication with the Head Coach, player feedback, attendance support, and other standard team responsibilities are expected parts of the Assistant Coach position.
