What is the TEC Initiative?
FAME, Inc., one of the nation’s first nonprofit organizations specifically focused on preparing under-represented minorities and girls for STEM careers, recognized the need to connect Delaware’s future talent pipeline with opportunities throughout the state. In order to make this dream a reality, they partnered with Tallo to create the Talent Engagement Connection (TEC) initiative. The TEC initiative seeks to develop a stable, continuous talent pipeline for employers within the state of Delaware by promoting and advancing the skills of Delaware’s talent. When searching for talent to connect with opportunities and a platform to power the connections, Tallo was the perfect fit.
How It Works
Talent create free profiles to showcase their skills and accomplishments on Tallo and match with opportunities throughout the “first state.” FAME Inc. introduces colleges and companies within the Delaware workforce ecosystem to the talent users through Tallo.
Successes of the TEC Initiative
The Boeing Company, Wilmington University, and Delmarva helped sponsor the TEC initiative and make Tallo available to every Delaware high school free of charge during the 2019/20 school year. This strong partnership brought many new and exciting opportunities to students throughout Delaware.
1. Extensive User Growth
From September 2019 to July 2020, the overall number of talent users in Delaware on Tallo grew from 984 to over 2,300. This is a 134% increase in population over the course of 10 months (starting Oct-July). This meant more opportunities for more students in Delaware.

Boeing STEM Signing Day
In an effort to tap into a diverse group of emerging talent across the country, The Boeing Company came to FAME Inc., Tallo, and the TEC initiative to power their first-ever virtual Delaware STEM Signing Day. This event recognized 20 high school seniors from across the state who chose to pursue STEM education at technical programs, two- and four-year colleges, and universities. Just like signing days for athletes, Delaware STEM Signing Day honorees signed a letter of intent to pursue their STEM goals.
Due to concerns about the COVID-19 outbreak, the 2020 Delaware STEM Signing Dat took place as a virtual event on April 14. Students were still recognized for their accomplishments, signed a letter of intent to pursue a STEM degree, and interacted with Boeing representatives and community leaders — all from the comfort and safety of their homes! Over 550 individuals tuned in to watch the event, which included remarks from Senator Chris Coons, Boeing executives, and community leaders. Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long presented a proclamation declaring April 14, 2020 as STEM Signing Day in the state of Delaware. Learn more about the event and watch highlights here.
