Job Description

Director Hunt School of Nursing 4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars Boiling Springs, NC The Director has faculty status and is responsible for the overall implementation of all nursing programs in the Hunt School of Nursing. The Director reports directly to the Dean for College of Health Sciences. The Director collaborates with University personnel as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties of Directors as described in 1-6 of the Gardner-Webb University Faculty Handbook. Teaching responsibilities as described in 111-1 of the Gardner-Webb University Faculty Handbook. Assures that Programs maintain approval by the North Carolina Board of Nursing {as necessary). Assures all Programs maintain national accreditation. Fosters a positive, collaborative, and professional working environment conducive to teaching, professional development, and scholarly work. Oversees development and evaluation of HSON and program policies and procedures to enhance learning and assessment of learning. Strategically plans for the HSON as a whole. Collaborates with the Associate Director in orientation of new faculty. Assures maintenance of evaluation of the nursing program to include: Oversight of the Systematic Evaluation Plan {SEP) to meet program goals and accreditation standards including analyzing, interpreting and trending data. Oversight of the Annual Learning Assessment {ALA) as required by the University. Provides follow up regarding recommendations based on the SEP and ALA as approved by the Faculty. Coordinates and engages in activities to increase visibility, credibility, productivity, effectiveness, and excellence of the Hunt School of Nursing. Assures appropriate clinical facilities by reviewing, establishing, and maintaining contracts and positive working relationships with community agencies. Establishes and participates in search committees to identify, interview and recommend candidates for full-time and adjunct faculty positions as appointed. Encourages and facilitates professional development of HSON personnel. Provides leadership and guidance for nursing faculty, personnel, and students by maintaining Hunt School of Nursing organization for program operation that is efficient and cost effective. Oversees meetings and activities of the HSON Advisory Council for program oversight. Secures and manages all resources for the HSON. Assumes responsibility for conducting Hunt School of Nursing Faculty meetings. Facilitates congenial, cooperative, and effective working relationships within the HSON using a participative, supportive approach. Serves as the official representative of the HSON to the University and the public. Assures that all nurse faculty are properly licensed, competent, and meet criteria for supervision and instruction of nursing students in the classroom and clinical setting. Promotes positive working relationships with University personnel, HSON faculty, accrediting bodies and outside agencies.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Meets criteria for employment of the University for teaching faculty. Meets criteria for and is approved by the University Graduate Council as a graduate faculty member. Holds a current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. Has a minimum of two years employment in direct client care as a Registered Nurse. Holds master’s and doctoral degrees from regionally accredited institutions; at least one degree in nursing. Maintains expertise appropriate to clinical and teaching responsibilities. Has preparation in teaching/learning principles for adult education as required by the North Carolina Board of Nursing Education Rules for Faculty. Demonstrates excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
