Position Information Job Title Director of Nursing
Job Description The Director of Nursing will lead these programs for CCC and have administrative responsibility for Associate Degree Nursing (ADN), Practical Nursing (PN) and Nurse Aide programs. The Director of Nursing has responsibility for maintaining legal requirements and standards conforming to the General Statutes of North Carolina (NC), the NC Nursing Practice Act, the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), NC Board of Nursing, and Department Health and Human Services. This position reports Dean of Health Sciences and Public Services, and Vice President, Academic Affairs. Essential Duties Summary Curriculum Development and Program Oversight
Ensure compliance with the General Statutes of North Carolina, NC Nursing Practice Act, Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), NC Board of Nursing, and Department of Health and Human Services.
Provide leadership in curriculum development and continuous improvement in nursing and nurse aide programs.
Coordinate curricula and catalog changes, including learning resources and textbook selection.
Lead program review and assessment processes to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Maintain technical standards assessments for instructional delivery. Accreditation and Compliance
Ensure each program meets accreditation, certification, and regulatory standards.
Prepare and submit required documentation for accreditation reviews.
Oversee faculty involvement in data collection, analysis, and utilization to promote effective teaching and learning.
Lead the development and implementation of program reviews and assessments in compliance with institutional effectiveness standards. Faculty Supervision and Development
Supervise recruitment, hiring, orientation, mentoring, and evaluation of faculty.
Support faculty in implementing innovative instructional strategies and best practices.
Encourage faculty participation in professional development opportunities.
Conduct regular evaluations of faculty performance and provide constructive feedback. Instructional Support and Student Engagement
Teach courses within the nursing program as appropriate, maintaining proficiency in instructional delivery and current nursing practices. Participate in student recruitment, advisement, and advisory committee meetings.
Assist with job placement and clinical assignments as needed.
Work with faculty and staff to address student concerns and disciplinary issues following appropriate policies and procedures.
Ensure accessibility and student engagement through clear communication and availability. Budget Management
Prepare budget requests and administer program funds.
Coordinate requisition of resources, including equipment, supplies, and facilities.
Monitor expenditures and implement inventory control methods.
Recommend personnel and resource needs for annual planning. Community and Clinical/Industry Partnerships
Identify opportunities for partnerships with senior colleges, universities, and healthcare organizations to provide career pathways for nursing program graduates.
Represent the nursing programs and Cleveland Community College at local, state, and national events.
Develop and maintain productive relationships with clinical agencies, community agencies, employers, and industry partners.
Serve as a liaison between the college and external stakeholders, representing the nursing programs in community and professional settings.
Coordinate advisory committee meetings and follow through on recommendations.
Develop course syllabi according to NCCCS (North Carolina Community College System) course descriptions and College standards and adhere to course syllabus. Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from colleagues, divisions, the College and all academic program needs. Allow and encourage participation in other College-required surveys (e.g.

CCSSE:

Community College Student Survey of Engagement). Assist with the College’s library collection development by selecting, evaluating, and weeding learning resources in each appropriate discipline as requested. Adherence to the College’s Policies and Procedures Manual. Assessment and Evaluation Participate in program and course assessments to ensure academic quality and continuous improvement. Analyze assessment data to inform teaching practices and curriculum development. Complete end-of-course assessments, formative (on-going) assessments and incorporate adjustments with teaching methods in order to meet learning outcomes. Professional Development Participate in 15 hours of professional development activities each academic year and College-required training. Record professional development as part of the annual review. Stay current with developments in the field through research, conferences, and networking. Departmental Administrative
Work with the Dean to develop course schedules and assign faculty workloads.
Manage and resolve departmental conflicts in collaboration with the Dean.
Facilitate faculty meetings and communicate department needs effectively.
Participate in college-wide initiatives, committees, and events.
Participate in the marketing, recruitment, and retention of students, faculty, and staff.
Ensure a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. Salary Range Based on experience. Salary range $50,679 to $76,018.50.
Required Qualifications Required Qualifications
Hold a current unrestricted license or multistate licensure privilege to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina;
Have two years of full-time experience as a faculty member in a Board-approved nursing program.
Be experientially qualified to lead the program to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected program outcomes.
Master’s Degree in nursing education or nursing;
Prior to or within the first three years of employment, have education in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to the program director role, as outlined in the NCBON regulations.
Maintain competence in the areas of assigned responsibility; and
Have current knowledge of concept-based and evidence-based nursing practice for the registered nurse and the licensed practical nurse. Skills and Abilities
Ability to work effectively and collegially with others.
Skill in the use of computers and commitment to use of technology.
Experience with current version of MS Office or similar programs.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Provide exceptional customer service with people internal and external to the institution.
Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college.
Flexible and adapts to change
Ability to multi-task with multiple departments and activities of others.

Preferred Qualifications Preferred:

Clinical experience as a registered nurse in a medical, hospital, skilled care, clinical setting, or surgical setting.
Combination of recent teaching, clinical coordination and/or leadership experience in an associate degree nursing program.
Recent experience instructing nursing students within the classroom, lab, and clinical settings. Experience, training or certification in high-fidelity simulation as applied to nursing education.
Demonstrated success working with a faculty team to align curricula and assessment plans.
Recent professional and community activities in the nursing/nurse education profession.
Demonstrated experience using instructional technologies, administering computer-based tests, facilitating high-fidelity simulation activities, and utilizing learning management systems such as Moodle or Blackboard. Physical Demands ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information, analyze data, make assessments, and exercise good judgment to make decisions; possess ease of mobility within the work environment and other areas of campus; and effective use of all forms of communication (oral, visual, auditory), including use of computers. Be able to lift weights up to 10 pounds on a regular basis
