Responsible for planning, organizing andleading overall operations of nursing services in accordance withfederal, state, and local standards and Sunrise Senior Livingpolicies to promote the highest degree of quality care and servicesto our guests/residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS
Thisposition is based in our Skilled Nursing building within ourcommunity. Ideal candidate will have prior experience as a ClinicalSupervisor with a strong understanding of state regulations,compliance standards, and both state and federal survey processes.

Responsibilities:
Sunrise Senior Living operates a number ofdifferent brands of communities for seniors. As a result, thisposition’s area of responsibility may differ among the variousbrands and states. Despite the differences in responsibilitiesbetween the brands and states, the following are a core set ofduties common to this position. Clinical Care Delivery OperationsDirects, supervises the management of the team members in theskilled nursing center Implements and monitors systems that ensureconsistent delivery of quality guest/resident services. Implementsstaffing and scheduling patterns to maintain continuity ofguest/resident care and regulatory compliance. Assesses andmonitors clinical setting for effective and safe guest/residentcentered care Facilitates effective communication between crossfunctional teams and promotes a team approach in the delivery ofguest/resident care. Maintains communication withguest’s/resident’s physician, family and or responsible party toensure the guest’s/resident’s needs are being met. Identifies theon-going needs of guests/residents in order to maintain the highestquality standards for well-being. Ensures proper utilization of theResident Care Plan by all team members. Ensures proper followthrough and documentation of guest/resident care. Facilitatesrelationships with Hospice, Therapy, and other providers.
Participates in community awareness activities and communityrelationship development. Assists in counseling guest/resident,family, or responsible party during difficult transitional careperiods. Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance Strives forexcellent quality care and service delivery as measured in theQuality Services Review (QSR) process and institutes with follow upmeasures on corrective actions in a timely manner. Researches,documents, and reviews all incidents of abuse, neglect andmisappropriation of funds; develops and implements plan ofcorrection as appropriate. Ensures Quality Improvement meetings areoccurring and may be designated as the Chairperson of the meetings.
Analysis of Guest/Resident Care Standards of Care and SupportServices to maintain quality guest/resident care and clinicalpractice. Reviews, develops and implements plans of correction forconcerns and issues identified by pharmacy consultants Reviews anddevelops plans of correction with interdisciplinary team to enhancethe quality of resident care Regularly monitors each resident’smedication & treatment profile and medication pass process toensure each medication and treatment is administered as ordered anddocumented accurately. Reviews for accuracy and compliance allphysician orders at time of move in and monthly thereafter. Acts asliaison with pharmacy to ensure effective services for theresidents. Ensures pharmacy follows state regulations for labeling,distribution, and identification of medications. Develops athorough working knowledge of current and evolving federal andstate regulations, policies and procedures for resident care andservices. Ensures that community follows all state regulations asit pertains to guest/resident care and services. Reviews, developsand implements plans of correction for concerns and or issuesidentified by regulators. Completes and submits all monthly andquarterly reports in a timely manner. Follows through on mocksurvey process. Financial Management Assists in the presentationand value of Sunrise’s products and services for our residents,families and team members and targeted referral sources. Assiststhe executive director in completing the annual community budget.
Understands and manages the department budget to include labor andother expenses and it’s impact on the community’s bottom lineReviews monthly financial statements and implements plans of actionaround deficiencies. Process and submit monthly expenses and budgetdata timely per Sunrise policies and internal business controls.
Coordinates with the community team to achieve maximum staffeconomies and cross training when applicable. Understands theinternal cost associated with all Sunrise resident care programs.
Training, Leadership and Team Member Development Overall managementof the department, including but not limited to: recruiting,hiring, training, coaching and disciplining Partners in thedelivery and participation in Sunrise University Training and selfstudy programs during the required timeframe Develops a workingknowledge of state regulations and ensures compliance throughsupervising and coaching team members Achieves the Team MemberEngagement goals and actively leads in the Engagement ImprovementPlanning sessions Completes team member staffing and schedulingaccording to operational and budgetary guidelines Daily review oftimekeeping practices and payroll reports to ensure all hoursworked are recorded and appropriately paid Conducts timelyperformance appraisals with meaningful conversations Holds teamaccountable and corrects actions when necessary and documentsAttends regular meetings; Stand Up, Cross Over, Department HeadMeetings, Town Hall, Quality Improvement, and others as directed bythe Executive Director Keeps abreast of professional developmentsin the field by reading, attending conferences and trainingsessions
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, anindividual must be able to perform each essential dutysatisfactorily. The requirements listed throughout this jobdescription are representative of the knowledge, skills, andabilities required. Graduate of approved college / school ofnursing Maintains a current state license as a Registered Nurse perstate regulations. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in anurse management position within a skilled nursing environmentincluding hiring staff, coaching, performance management dailyoperations supervision, discipline, and counseling Comprehensiveknowledge of nursing practices, techniques, methods as applied toskilled nursing care. Demonstration of knowledge in federal andstate long term care regulations Proficiency in Medicare, MinimumData Set (MDS) / Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI), Care Planprocess Ability to handle multiple priorities. Ability to delegateassignments to the appropriate individuals based on their skills,roles and interests. Possess written and verbal skills foreffective communication and the ability to facilitate small grouppresentations. Competent in organizational, time management skillsDemonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision-makingskills. Demonstration of proficiency in computer skills, MicrosoftOffice (Windows, Outlook, Excel) and Sunrise applications with theability to learn new applications. Ability to work weekends,evenings and flexible hours, available for our customers at peakservice delivery days and times.
