SUMMARY:
The Regional Nursing Director shallpossess institution-wide responsibility for the general supervisionand coordination of all nursing education curricula and programs,including the courses, course content and outcomes, accreditationand assessment activities, program reviews, and state or approvalagency relations associated therewith. This position shall work andcollaborate with the individual campus nursing directors concerningcampus personnel, equipment, budget, and facility utilization. Thisposition shall also work with such institutional and campus leadersas may be associated with and directly or indirectly be involved inthe delivery of nursing education at the Southeastern Collegecampuses and/or such other health-care settings wherein programeducational activities take place. The SEC Regional NursingDirector must possess strong leadership and communication skills toeffectively meet the needs of students, faculty, and the healthcarecommunity at the five system campuses.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the college’s Nursing Faculty and Program Directors,Deans, Campus Presidents and the Chief Academic and AccreditationOfficer to assure nursing program effectiveness. Identify trends within the nursing profession to include bestpractices, industry changes, new technologies, and othersignificant factors indicative of curricula or courserevision/update. Participate in budget planning (maintain operational equipment,resources, and instructional/training tools). Maintain a strategic nursing plan for the College and provideleadership and oversight for all degree levels. Maintain a current curriculum map and systematic plan ofevaluation; reflective of on-going faculty assessment of studentlearning outcomes and program outcomes in determining overallprogram effectiveness. Evaluate, and monitor faculty/staff performance and providefeedback in a timely manner. Facilitate departmental meetings to discuss programeffectiveness and methods for improvement. Attend curriculum meetings, college faculty meetings andAdvisory Board meetings as determined by Southeastern College. Cultivate relationships with clinical sites, and evaluate andassure clinical education effectiveness. Assist in the cultivation of relationships with clinical sites,and evaluate and assure clinical education effectiveness asneeded. Maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline andeducational methodologies through continuing professionaldevelopment. Work with college Librarian to maintain current books,periodicals, and electronic resources relevant to the professionaldiscipline. Back-up of Nursing faculty and Program Directors, asneeded. Utilize the staffing model to proactively identify hiring needfor nursing programs.
REPORTING AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reports to the Executive Director and Chief Academic andAccreditation Officer.
REQUIRED WORK HOURS
A minimum of forty hoursper week, plus other hours as may be necessary to complete jobduties. A combination of day, evening, and weekend hours isrequired.
COMPETENCIES
Language, Math and ReasoningAbility to read,analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professionaljournals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Abilityto write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questionsfrom groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Abilityto apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents,logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to applymathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distributions,determination of test reliability and validity, analysis ofvariance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factoranalysis.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts,and draw valid conclusions.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and
TRAINING
A minimum of a PhD in Nursing or DNP. Current unrestricted State of Florida, North Carolina and SouthCarolina RN License. Academic leadership experience, minimum 3 years. Full time teaching experience, minimum 4 years. Full time Nursing practice experience, minimum 5 years. Familiarity with accreditation processes; preferred experiencewith ACEN Standards. Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience leading strategic initiativesin nursing education.
