JOB SUMMARY
The Payroll & Compensation Analyst is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, managing bonus accrual calculations, and analyzing compensation data to support competitive and equitable pay structures. This role involves a combination of payroll administration, compensation analysis, and market research to support the organization’s overall compensation strategy. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Payroll Processing & Compliance Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Maintain payroll records, ensuring accuracy in employee earnings, deductions, and tax filings at both the federal and state level. Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to reconcile payroll discrepancies and ensure proper reporting. Stay updated on payroll regulations and implement necessary updates to maintain compliance. Bonus & Incentive Compensation Calculate and track bonus accruals based on company policies and performance metrics. Assist in administering annual and quarterly bonus payments in alignment with company goals. Work with finance and HR leadership teams to ensure proper bonus forecasting and budgeting. Assist with creating and processing new bonus structures and other incentives company wide. Compensation Analysis & Market Research Conduct regular market research and benchmarking to ensure competitive salary ranges for all positions. Review and update salary structures based on market data, internal equity, and company compensation philosophy. Provide salary recommendations for new hires, promotions, and internal adjustments. Assist in preparing reports on pay trends, wage inflation, and industry salary benchmarks. Review & Maintenance of Pay Structures Analyze internal salary data to ensure consistency and fairness in pay practices. Support the maintenance of salary bands, job classifications, and pay grades. Assist in compensation planning and annual salary review processes. Partner with HR to conduct compensation audits and identify pay equity concerns. Collaboration & Reporting Work closely with HR and Finance, to align payroll and compensation practices with company goals. Prepare payroll and compensation reports for management, ensuring accuracy and clarity. Assist in responding to internal and external audits related to payroll and compensation. CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Certification and Licensing:
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification is a plus.
Experience:
3-5 years of experience in payroll processing, compensation analysis, or related roles. Experience with payroll software (ADP, Workday, Paycom, or similar) and HRIS systems. Experience in compensation benchmarking tools (e.g., PayScale, Mercer, or Willis Towers Watson). Experience in healthcare or finance, and a multi-state organization.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compensation structures. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions for data analysis. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market data and salary trends. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
