This position serves as an important part of the donation and warehouse operation by helping donors unload items, determining where donations should be placed, keeping the receiving area organized, and assisting with deliveries and merchandise movement. The ideal employee is dependable, organized, able to work in a fast-paced environment, comfortable performing physical work, and willing to assist donors, customers, and other store employees as needed. Key Responsibilities Greet donors in a friendly and professional manner as they arrive at the donation area. Receive and intake donated merchandise from customers and community members. Assist donors with unloading items from cars, trucks, and other vehicles. Safely lift, carry, and move furniture, boxes, household goods, and other donated merchandise. Sort donations into appropriate categories such as clothing, household goods, furniture, electronics, books, décor, and other merchandise. Separate items based on condition, type, and designated processing area. Organize donations so merchandise can be efficiently processed and moved to the sales floor. Maintain clean, safe, and organized donation receiving, warehouse, and storage areas. Load and unload company vehicles, delivery trucks, trailers, and other incoming or outgoing deliveries. Assist with receiving merchandise and supplies. Move merchandise between the warehouse, processing areas, sales floor, storage areas, and loading areas as needed. Assist with furniture and other large or heavy merchandise. Follow proper lifting and safety procedures when handling heavy or bulky items. Help store employees locate, move, organize, or retrieve merchandise. Assist customers when needed, including helping with large purchases and loading merchandise into customer vehicles. Keep aisles, doorways, loading areas, and workspaces clear of safety hazards. Help maintain an efficient flow of merchandise from donation intake through processing and onto the sales floor. Follow store procedures regarding donations that cannot be accepted. Handle donated merchandise carefully to minimize damage. Communicate with supervisors and store staff regarding large donations, unusual items, deliveries, or warehouse needs. Assist with general warehouse, donation center, and store duties as assigned. Physical Requirements This is an active, hands-on position that may require the employee to: Regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and carry merchandise. Frequently lift and move boxes, bags, furniture, and other donated goods. Work both independently and with another employee when moving large or heavy items. Safely use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other material-handling equipment when provided. Work in warehouse and donation receiving areas where temperatures may vary. Skills & Qualifications Dependable and punctual. Friendly and respectful when interacting with donors and customers. Able to follow directions and work as part of a team. Strong organizational skills. Able to sort and categorize a wide variety of merchandise. Comfortable performing physical work throughout the shift. Able to work efficiently during busy donation periods. Good communication and customer-service skills. Willingness to assist in different areas of the store when needed. Previous warehouse, donation center, retail, moving, stocking, or receiving experience is helpful but not required. Position Expectations The Warehouse / Donation Intake Associate is expected to help maintain a safe, organized, efficient, and welcoming donation and warehouse operation . Because donations can arrive unexpectedly and vary greatly in size and quantity, the employee must be flexible and willing to shift between donation intake, sorting, organizing, loading and unloading, customer assistance, and general store support throughout the workday.
