Accounting Manager Location:
Mansfield, TX - In Office Reports to: CFO About the Role Read-A-Thon, Get Movin' Fundraising, and 32Auctions are growing, technology-enabled businesses serving schools, nonprofits, and other organizations across the United States. We are seeking a highly reliable, detail-oriented Accounting Manager to serve as the primary accounting owner across the organization as we bring our accounting function in-house. This is first and foremost an accounting role. The Accounting Manager will own the day-to-day accounting function, financial close, reconciliations, and financial reporting across our businesses. At the same time, our accounting environment is relatively straightforward. Once a strong accounting foundation and efficient processes are in place, we expect this role to have meaningful capacity to work alongside the CFO on FP&A, financial analysis, operational projects, and other strategic finance initiatives. This creates an opportunity for someone who wants to build a strong accounting foundation while expanding their experience beyond traditional accounting. Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Reporting Own day-to-day accounting across multiple legal entities. Manage the monthly close process with a target of completing close within 3-5 business days. Maintain accurate and timely financial records, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and deferred revenue. Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules. Manage accounts payable, including invoice coding, vendor payments, and check processing. Reconcile bank accounts and payment platforms. Track, calculate, and administer employee commissions. Manage intercompany accounting and ensure consistent classification across entities. Maintain clean balance sheet reconciliations and proactively identify and correct errors. Support external tax advisors and auditors by preparing schedules and documentation. Improve accounting processes, controls, and documentation as the business grows. Assist with accounting integration for future acquisitions. FP&A & Strategic Finance As the core accounting responsibilities become standardized and efficient, the Accounting Manager will also have the opportunity to: Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. Analyze company and business-unit performance. Build financial analyses to support operating and strategic decisions. Identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement within the businesses. Partner with the CFO and operating leaders on ad hoc financial and operational projects. Support financial analysis related to acquisitions and integration initiatives. The exact mix will evolve based on the needs of the business and the capabilities and interests of the individual. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 4+ years of accounting experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting. Experience owning or playing a significant role in month-end close. Strong general ledger and balance sheet reconciliation skills. Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems; QuickBooks experience preferred. High attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently and take ownership of issues through resolution. Comfortable working in a lean environment without a large accounting team. Interest in developing broader financial analysis and FP&A capabilities. CPA and experience in an acquisitive or multi-entity business are a plus, but not required. What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who takes pride in maintaining accurate books, catches mistakes before they become problems, and takes ownership without requiring significant day-to-day supervision. This person should be willing to do both higher-level accounting work and routine execution, including reconciliations, invoice entry, commission calculations, and check processing. Just as importantly, we are looking for someone who is intellectually curious and interested in understanding the businesses behind the numbers. For the right candidate, this role can provide exposure well beyond traditional accounting and an opportunity to develop into a broader finance professional over time. Why Join Us? Own the accounting function across multiple growing businesses. Work directly with the CFO and senior leadership. Significant autonomy and responsibility from day one. Opportunity to build and improve accounting processes rather than inherit a rigid structure. Meaningful exposure to FP&A, financial analysis, and strategic decision-making. Exposure to acquisitions and business integration. Opportunity to develop a broader finance skill set while maintaining ownership of accounting. Potential to grow into a Controller or broader finance leadership role as the organization scales.
