This vital leadership role requires a professional with proven expertise in managing a locked psychiatric unit (must be noted in resume), specifically within a secure mental health environment. The Clinical Director will oversee clinical operations, ensure high-quality patient care, and lead a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing comprehensive behavioral health services. Our clients are referred by the County. Some are voluntary but others can arrive on a 5150 involuntary hold or be conserved. Responsibilities Lead and supervise clinical staff, including therapists, social workers, and support personnel, fostering a collaborative and compliant work environment. Oversee the daily operations of the locked psych unit, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and applied behavior analysis (ABA). Manage crisis intervention efforts promptly and effectively to de-escalate situations while ensuring patient safety. Ensure accurate documentation of patient care in medical records and support data collection for clinical research or quality improvement initiatives. Collaborate with families and community resources to support holistic patient recovery plans. Maintain compliance with ICD coding standards for diagnoses and
ICD-9/10
coding requirements. Provide clinical supervision and ongoing training to team members to promote professional development and ensure best practices in mental health care. Skills Extensive experience with this high acuity mental health population Experience in a locked psych unit with 5150 hold clients Proven management skills including clinical team leadership, supervision experience, and case management expertise. Strong knowledge of crisis management techniques, crisis intervention strategies, and behavior management approaches. Skilled in conducting intake assessments, diagnostic evaluations using ICD coding standards, and delivering psychotherapy through individual or group modalities. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction as well as collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
