Job Description

New Jersey General Assembly Majority Office Executive Assistant Trenton, New Jersey The New Jersey General Assembly Majority Office (AMO) advises and serves legislators in the Assembly Democratic caucus, including the Speaker of the General Assembly and caucus leadership. The AMO is seeking candidates for the position of Executive Assistant . Qualified candidates would provide assistance to the Assembly Majority Office staff and assist Democratic caucus members in crafting, evaluating, and coordinating public policy initiatives. The AMO offers competitive salaries based on experience, excellent benefits and is seeking to fill positions immediately.
Responsibilities:
Executive Assistant are assigned to staff of the Majority Office. Responsibilities will include answering phones, scheduling appointments, and filing and organization of office materials and equipment. Review, update, and email various reports, act as a point person for special projects as assigned, and provide support to the committee staff. The selected candidates would prepare notices, schedules and other materials needed for meetings and voting sessions. Executive Assistant may also perform other duties as directed by the Deputy Executive Director of Administration and Operations.
Qualifications:
The AMO seeks diverse candidates, with some prior experience in public policy, legislative research, or issue advocacy; a basic understanding of state government policy making, legislative staff work, research or policy analyst and/or advocate; basic experience in compiling and accessing professional and academic contacts who can provide expert information, help and resources; basic knowledge of current issues, trends, and organizations in state policy arenas. Qualified candidates should possess demonstrated research, analytical, interpersonal, decision-making, and writing skills; an ability to function in a high-volume, fast-paced, and multi-faceted environment; attention to detail, and the ability to meet strict deadlines. Qualified candidates should also possess a strong sense of diplomacy and instinct for organizational dynamics to manage complex relationships with key constituents and professional colleagues, effectively and with tact. This includes the ability to listen, distill information, consult with and suggest new approaches to internal and external clients. Sound and seasoned judgment required. A record of accomplishment in strategic planning, policy implementation, and priority setting is preferred.
Executive Assistant Requirements:
Bachelor's degree preferred. Pursuant to
N.J.S.A. 52

$50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
