Project Cost Specialist

Job Description

Project Cost Specialist Support an ongoing site-based construction assignment in Corpus Christi, TX, with future projects requiring on-site presence across the U.S. You'll work closely with the Senior Project Controls Professional, Project Managers, Construction Managers, contractors, and vendors, providing day-to-day cost support throughout the project lifecycle — including cost tracking, forecasting support, pay applications, invoicing, commitments, purchase orders, change management, and cost reporting.
Responsibilities:
Support day-to-day project cost control activitiesMaintain and update project budgets, commitments, actual costs, and forecastsAssist with preparation of weekly and monthly cost reportsTrack project expenditures and identify discrepancies, variances, and potential cost issuesAssist with Estimate at Completion (EAC) and Estimate to Complete (ETC) updatesReview contractor/subcontractor pay applications for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with contract termsTrack and process invoices, purchase orders, commitments, accruals, and payment statusCoordinate with Accounts Payable, Procurement, contractors, and vendors to resolve invoicing/payment issuesMaintain accurate records of project commitments, expenditures, and forecasted costsAssist with change order and change management trackingCompare actual costs against budget/forecast and research variancesCollect cost information from construction teams, contractors, and vendorsMaintain accurate project cost documentation in project systemsAssist with monthly cost reconciliation and reportingSupport project closeout activities, including reconciliation of commitments, invoices, and outstanding costsWork collaboratively with project controls, construction, procurement, contracts, and finance teams
Required:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field — or equivalent experience3-7 years of experience in construction cost control, project cost administration, project accounting, or related fieldExperience reviewing contractor/subcontractor pay applications and invoicesUnderstanding of construction budgets, commitments, expenditures, forecasts, and cost reportingExperience tracking purchase orders, change orders, invoices, accruals, and commitmentsStrong Microsoft Excel skills and ability to work with financial/project dataExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work with contractors, vendors, project managers, and project controls professionalsAbility to work in a fast-paced, site-based construction environmentWillingness and ability to travel to future project assignments across the U.S.
Preferred:
