Job Description
Overview The Head Custodian performs manual work to keep the building facilities open and ready for use, and to assure the safety of students and staff. The individual will carry out a written schedule of cleaning tasks. Requires specific instructions to perform special tasks or to operate specialized equipment. Responsibilities Assigns and supervises custodial personnel in the building, and provides complete work schedules. Insures complete safety of the facility and working condition of emergency equipment. Keeps the principal/supervisor informed of the general condition of the facility. Receives and inspects all deliveries and informs proper personnel on the receiving of shipments and distribution. Maintains custodial supply and inventory records. Cleans lavatories and metal work Moves furniture and equipment Provides assistance and service as requested by the administration Operates floor machines Collects and disposes of debris Makes necessary reports or work orders for major repairs. Maintains custodial closets and accounts for supplies Assists and supervises in snow removal, grass cutting, etc Inspects and maintains general security of the building Promotes the safety and welfare of self, students and fellow employees Any other duties requested by the head custodian/designee Maintains and insures proper environmental control through heating, ventilating and lighting.
