Job Title:

Utility Operator (1st Shift) ($20.00/hr.) Job Description The Utility Operator supports multiple areas of a graphite manufacturing facility by performing light assembly, material preparation, sanding and finishing, shipping support, and basic machine operation. This is a 1st shift working Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., contributing to the production of critical rupture disks used for overpressure protection in industrial process plants. We are looking for an individual to interview and start as soon as possible. We offer weekly pay with overtime paying time and a half. Apply Today! Responsibilities Work in a floater-style Utility Operator role, supporting various departments as needed throughout the facility. Perform light assembly tasks to help manufacture graphite rupture disks and related components. Carry out sanding, buffing, deburring, and polishing activities in the finishing department to ensure parts meet quality standards. Assist in shipping operations, including preparing, packaging, and staging products for outgoing orders. Follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures to complete tasks accurately and safely. Support cycle counting and inventory activities to help maintain accurate stock levels and material records. Prepare raw and semi-finished materials for machinists, ensuring correct identification, handling, and staging. Learn to operate manual machines under supervision, gradually building skills in basic machining tasks. Assist in testing parts and measuring required tolerances to verify that products meet precise specifications. Complete required documentation related to production, inventory, quality checks, and shipping activities. Lift and move materials and products weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily operations. Maintain a clean and organized work area within a dusty graphite shop environment, following proper housekeeping practices. Collaborate with technicians, shipping and receiving staff, and other team members to support smooth production flow. Essential Skills Ability to consistently lift and handle up to 50 pounds throughout the workday. Experience working in a manufacturing or shop environment, preferably in an industrial or production setting. Willingness to work with graphite materials and in a dusty environment where clothing and equipment may get dirty. Strong attention to detail to ensure parts are produced and finished to precise tolerances and quality standards. Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions accurately and reliably. Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn how to operate manual machines. Reliable work ethic with the ability to work full-time on 1st shift, Monday through Friday. Use of steel toe boots as required protective footwear in the facility. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience with sanding, buffing, deburring, or polishing in a manufacturing or metalworking environment. Experience in shipping, receiving, or general warehouse operations. Interest in learning machining skills and developing toward a machinist role over time. Comfort working around high-precision, safety-critical products used for overpressure protection in industrial processes. Ability to work collaboratively in a small, close-knit team environment. The environment is a small shop of around 20 employees, including technicians and shipping and receiving staff, fostering close collaboration and strong team relationships. The work area is a graphite shop, which means it is dusty and can be dirty; employees should be comfortable working in this type of setting and wearing appropriate protective gear, including steel toe boots. Work is performed on 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with hands-on tasks in assembly, finishing, material handling, and basic machine operation. The facility focuses on precision manufacturing and strict quality standards, producing safety-critical components that must perform reliably under specific pressure and temperature conditions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chagrin Falls, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
