What Will You Do:
The primary function of an Account Clerk III involves the compilation, completion and interpretation of public assistance expense claims and statistical reports, which may include a variety of processes and accounts and public assistance programs.

Will enjoy a teamwork environment; will have the ability to effectively use patience and courtesy in dealing with coworkers and the public; possess the ability to analyze situations involving rules and regulations while demonstrating good judgment in decision making; be proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Outlook; able to locate, identify and correct inaccurate or incomplete data; work with other County agencies; prioritize, plan and organize one's own work. As an Account Clerk III You Will Have the Opportunity to: Apply your knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting and financial auditing. Prepare statistical, fiscal and case record reports; handle money transactions, such as collecting and disbursing monies and other negotiable items. Verify and process deposits. Lead and train subordinate staff. Reconcile more difficult and complex financial and statistical information. Assist the public by answering inquiries, refer to appropriate personnel and explain proper use of forms. Process agency timesheets and payroll. Navigate software to confirm, troubleshoot and explain public assistance benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:
Two (2) years of full-time clerical accounting experience performing fiscal or statistical work in an office environment, with one (1) year of full-time experience at the journey level.•Thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units that included coursework in basic financial and statistical recordkeeping practices and procedures; mathematics such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, and percentages; or computer applications and spreadsheet software may be substituted for up to one year of qualifying experience. Qualifying experience or education may be combined in order to meet the above requirements. When combining education and experience; fifteen (15) semester units or twenty-two and one-half (22.5) quarter units equals six months of experience.
License & Special Requirements:
A valid California Class C driver's license or alternative form of transportation may be required for some positions at the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Requires a current, less than one (1) year old, valid typing certificate.
Bilingual Candidates:
Must pass a written and/or oral bilingual proficiency test (or another appropriate test selected by the County) to qualify. The department is currently recruiting for one (1) anticipated vacancy . In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for an Account Clerk III or an Account Clerk III - Bilingual, as well as subsequent vacancies, which occur during the life of the eligibility list. New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
